Exhibition: Motor Functions Steve Hutton
‘Motor Functions' is specially curated for Flip 07. Steve Hutton‘s kinetic sculptures use materials that are quite commonplace, second hand and rescued from skips. Often, mechanical motion is incorporated so that a sense of struggle, frustration and latent eroticism is expressed, as components persevere in their repeated though idiosyncratic movements. Sometimes a rhythm and degree of grace is achieved.
Steve Hutton has recently graduated from Wimbledon College of Art and has exhibited in numerous group shows. Motor Functions is his first solo public show.

Flag Metamorphoses
A participatory art project.- A series of animations with many authors. The flags of every nation in the world will transform into each other through flash animation.
Between each two flags, scenes appear that show an aspect of the relations between the two countries. This series of animations is an exploration into the meaning of imagery on flags, aiming to create interrelated associations through the questioning, reassessing, fluidising and re-mixing of diverse national iconography.
Location: Lock Works Cafe Bar.

Neeta Madahar: Falling Wolverhampton Art Gallery
As part of Flip Festival 2007 Wolverhampton Art Gallery have programmed a piece of fine art animation in the recently launched space, Vision, dedicated entirely to the display of new-media works.
The video animation ‘Falling' is by British artist Neeta Madahar. The animation features countless sycamore seeds spinning towards the viewer, seemingly without origin or destination; their descent is slowed to a dreamlike pace. The title Falling refers to the literal falling of the seeds but Madahar also uses it to allude to the loss of control. The experience combines childlike wonder and adult anxiety.
The piece will be on show in the Vision Space at Wolverhampton Art Gallery for the duration of the festival.
