The District / The White Wolf

Tuesday 4th November, 7pm

The Library Theatre, Birmingham

This is a special pre-launch Flip event in conjunction with Birmingham International Film Society. The District is an outrageous and visually stunning animated satire from multiaward winning Hungarian director Áron Gauder. A group of teens from the wrong side of Budapest's tracks band together to make themselves rich by travelling back in time, burying a horde of woolly mammoths under the city's streets, then returning to the present and drilling for oil. The District plays like an unhinged ghetto updating of Romeo & Juliet through a politically charged kaleidoscope of clashing world views and social unrest, complete with musical numbers and a wicked soundtrack of Hungarian hip-hop.

The White Wolf is an animated short from French director, Pierre-Luc Granjon. A child manages to tame a huge white wolf. He and his little brother are delighted. But to feed their family, their father brings home one day an animal bigger than usual…the white wolf.

Tickets: £3.50/£2.50, available from Birmingham Central Library, 0121 3032323, or online www.birminghamboxoffice.co.uk. For more info email bhamifs@hotmail.co.uk

Animation Issues

29 October - 29 November 2008

Wolverhampton Art Gallery

Wolverhampton Art Gallery is proud to present animation created by students from Wolverhampton City College.

E2E learners have created three animations that look at the violent crimes that dog the news reports. They ask the question: Is violent crime a symptom of 21st Century life or a scourge on the communities it affects?
