9.45 – 11.00am This year the festival again received an abundance of films from around the world. The second screening of the festival will concentrate on international shorts films many of which have received awards and citations at other festivals.

11.15 – 12.15pm & 12.15 – 1.15pm This is a special screening of the animated episodes from the 1968 series, The Invasion. The episodes were lost but in 2006 they were meticulously reconstructed using audio recorded over-the-air by fans mixed with newly-created animation courtesy of Cosgrove Hall. These animated reconstructions have been warmly received by Doctor Who fans and this is an opportunity to see them on the big screen and hear from some of the contributors later on in the afternoon. Please note this is a free event, and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so please arrive early to pick up a ticket.

1.30 – 2.45pm This panel follows on from the Doctor Who screening and is an opportunity to find out more about how and why the animated episodes were commissioned and whether there may be further productions in the future and to meet some of the people responsible for making them. The panel will also highlight the wonderful world of Doctor Who fan animation. Contributors are: James Goss, who ran the BBC's Doctor Who website for seven years and as part of this he produced the BBC's first webcasts, and commissioned the Invasion animations. He produced the BBC One animation "Doctor Who: The Infinite Quest" and has written a Torchwood book. Jon Doyle, from Firestep Productions, 2 x Bafta winning Animation Producer/Director/Artist whose work includes Doctor Who animated series Scream of the Shalka, The Invasion and The Infinite Quest. Rob Ritchie, fan animator and producer of a raft of well received Doctor Who clips. Rob is contributor to the Who3d feature film project and he created Doctor Who 3d visuals for the stage play, The Trial of Davros.

Boulder Media is one of Ireland’s largest animation studios and for the past 7 years have been providing animation services for largely US clients, including Disney, Carton Network and Nickelodeon. Boulder is the studio behind some of today’s most popular shows, including ‘Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends’ and Nickelodeon’s brand new flagship show, ‘El Tigre’. 5.30 – 6.30pm This is the third screening of shorts, an eclectic mix covering 2D, stop motion and 3D. This year the festival again received an abundance of films from around the world. This screening will feature a selection of films, many of which are premieres and a number have received awards and citations at other festivals.

6.45 – 8.30pm This screening will showcase films from a number of UK universities and colleges, including Staffordshire University, the University of Wolverhampton, Derby University, Birmingham City University, School of media Arts, Dundee and Edinburgh College of Art. This is an opportunity to check out some of the upcoming talent from around the region and beyond. Followed by an award ceremony when we announce the winners of the Open Shorts and Student Competition We are very grateful to this year’s judges: for the student competition: Jonathan Bairstow from Sherbet Productions, Chris Randall from Second Home Productions and Birmingham based, The Charactershop, who are offering winning students work placement opportunities with the studio. 9.00 – 10.30pm Igor is a playfully irreverent comedy that brings a new twist to the classic monster genre. In a world filled with Mad Scientists and Evil Inventions, one talented evil scientist's hunch-backed lab assistant has big dreams of becoming a Mad Scientist himself and winning the annual Evil Science Fair. Directed by Anthony Leondis, starring John Cusack, Myleene Klass, Steve Buscemi and John Cleese.

8.30pm – late Resident music promoters Colour will host the closing party of Flip 2008. The night will be a mix of live music (acts to be confirmed), DJ sets, projected visuals and the usual free homemade cakes. Colour is a West Midlands-based promotions group, founded in 2006. Their focus is to bring leftfield folk, electronica, 'indie' and other mainstream-eschewing artists to the area through our live events and the music & culture blog, wearecolour.wordpress.com.
